London's annual all-clown Sunday service! | "Annual Grimaldi Service" (ALL SAINTS CHURCH DALSTON) | official video guide
WHEN. On the first Sunday of February, every year—mark it down!
"Annual Grimaldi Service" (ALL SAINTS CHURCH DALSTON)
WHAT IT IS. If you've been to the Clowns' Gallery-Museum (now closed unfortunately), you should have heard of this annual service named after Grimaldi, the father of British clowning. You'll be seeing clowns from start to finish: clown dramas, prayer for lost clowns, clown-themed sermon, with clowns from all over the world in the audience and also on-stage.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS (walking distance) -
- Hackney City Farm
- The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & Natural History
- Museum of the Home (planned reopening late 2020)

THE CATCH. Sadly, the information you find online is not only sparse but sometimes conflicting.
The service starts at 3 p.m. but do arrive early. For your reference: I was there 45 minutes early and the first few rows were taken.

If you'd rather go for a wider angle, you can consider going up the first floor. You can't reach it from the main hall—exit through the main entrance and turn right for the staircase.
(P. S. This year, BBC has filmed an episode of "Good Life" during the service.)
